The Seven of Pentacles

Seven of Pentacles

The seven of pentacles shows a gardener resting on the handle of his spade, hoe, or shovel, which is embedded in the soil next to a large mature, blossoming plant containing six pentacles.  In between his feet lies another pentacle on a single seedling of the same variety as the large plant.  It looks like he has just watered the smaller  one.  He gazes somewhat wistfully at the thriving large plant.

If the seven of pentacles appears in your reading, you may be nostalgic or longing for the “good old days” when life seemed simpler and easier.  Your focus is on the past.  Hindsight is always 20/20, but this card brings the message that it’s time to shift your focus to the issue(s) that lie(s) at your feet.  Whatever you did in the past to produce the large blooming manifestation of your values, you are more than capable of replicating with the new growth.

Seven is also a creator number, and it reminds us that, indeed, it is the future, not so much the past, that shapes our present.  Setting a goal and clarifying the path toward its achievement enables effective and productive work.  “Be here now,” is the message of the seven of pentacles.
