A.O. has submitted the above cards for interpretation. The first three cards are the “heart” of the reading and are read as a unit. Then, the fourth card is drawn and read as a summary or a clarifier. Since two out of the first three are pentacles, it is safe to say that this reading focuses on values and priorities, work and practical matters.
The spotlight has been on the six of pentacles, a card that reminds A.O. to take care of her/himself FIRST. Even though the central figure is giving to others and even using a scale to make sure the giving is fair and just, unless that giver has taken care of her/his own needs first, (s)he has little to give and is often giving because (s)he thinks (s)he should and/or because it is expected of her/him. This is resentment-producing behavior, and it doesn’t feel good to either the giver or receiver. However, when one’s needs are completely met, one can give away the overflow, and the feeling of abundance fosters mutual appreciation between both parties.
The spotlight is now on the Queen of Swords, the Butterfly Queen. This card indicates that A.O. is in the throes of a major transformation, the equivalent of turning from a caterpillar into a butterfly. A.O. may very well be questioning her/his very existence, status, choice of career, and next steps. There is often a feeling of non-reality that accompanies the seeker as (s)he progresses through this process. The good news is that this transformation is more than halfway over; the sun will come out, the cocoon will open, and A.O. WILL emerge as a butterfly with a completely fresh perspective and lifestyle.
The spotlight is moving toward the ten of pentacles, the need for discernment in choosing the perspective from which to view what life is offering. The narrowest path is the one represented by the young man pictured with his back toward the viewer. His reality is limited to the safe, the sure, the practical, and the earthbound. The middle path is represented by the female figure facing the reader; she allows a small child to hold onto her skirt while her reality encompasses the young man, the elderly figure, the dogs, and the floating pentacles seen through the archway. The old man seated just beyond the archway sees the three figures in the courtyard, and he is touching one of the dogs. He is backed-up by the floating pentacles. It would seem that A.O. will have some choices to make as the butterfly aspect of her/his existence manifests.
The summary card is the ten of cups, another card that asks A.O. to use discernment in deciding whom (s)he chooses to treat like family and include in the broader reality of a butterfly. Since this is now the second ten to appear in this reading, there is an emphasis on A.O.’s using thoughtful consideration of the choices available to her/him one the caterpillar to butterfly transformation is complete. (S)he may find her/himself associating with a new group of friends and have different responsibilities than before.
Good luck, A.O.. Enjoy your new freedom(s).
