T.V. has submitted the above cards for interpretation. The first three cards are the “heart” of the reading and are read as a unit. Then, the fourth card is drawn and read as a summary or clarifier. Since two out of the first three cards are pentacles, it is safe to say this reading is focused on values, priorities, and the structures in which we invest our time and energies.
The spotlight has been on the Queen of Pentacles, the card that tells T.V. what (s)he has to offer the world is of great value, and the time for resting and contemplating her/his gifts is over; it’s time to get up and get going. It’s time to put aside all the doubts and fears of the unknown, all the reasons why-not, and just get out there and do it.
The spotlight is now on the six of pentacles, the reminder to take care of oneself first. This is the voice of reason that has emerged from the Queen of Pentacles’ self-examination. In order for T.V. to be able to give with no strings attached, (s)he must be sure that all her/his needs are met first. Failure to follow this imperative can only lead to disappointment for both T.V. and those (s)he wishes to help because giving when one is needful her/himself always carries a certain amount of resentment along with it.
The spotlight is moving toward the King of Swords, a card that bestows and acknowledges the right and the power to cut through the nonsense and announce what will be in no uncertain terms. This is mastery over conflict, and the appearance of this card in this position says T.V. has earned the right to establish the rules, call the shots, and dictate the terms under which business will be conducted.
The summary card is the nine of swords, sometimes called the nightmare card. Although the first three cards are unanimous in urging action, the presence of this card clearly indicates that the timing is not quite right yet for a full-blown onslaught and outpouring of effort. It is extremely possible that resolving the six of pentacles may require some extra time. In any event, T.V. is being reassured that (s)he needs to take care of some inner work first and then make decisions as to how this situation will play out with her/him in charge, but it may take longer than first expected.
