H.A. has submitted the above cards for interpretation. The first three cards are the “heart” of the reading and are read as a unit. Then, the fourth card is drawn and read as a summary or clarifier. Since two out of the first three are 5’s (kings count as 14=5), it is safe to say that this reading emphasizes freedom, diversity, choosing, and self-expression. The presence of two members of the Major Arcana, when we include the summary card, implies that there is a connection to H.A.’s soul’s agenda for this lifetime, so there are influences that move beyond the day-to-day happenings in H. A.’s life.
The spotlight has been on the Sun, a bright new beginning. H.A. has recently begun the next higher level of her/his life, this time knowing more and better what lies on the path. There is an openness to her/his consciousness, and this is clearly a card of celebration.
The spotlight is now on the King of Swords, mastery over conflict. H.A. has earned the right to be the authority, the voice of fairness, and the decision-maker who will announce to any interested parties what the next step will be. (S)he holds the sword of power in an upright, active position, not even having to rest it on her/his knee. With this sword, (s)he can cut through all the drama, all the back-and-forth, in other words–all the conflict.
The spotlight is moving toward the five of pentacles, the “misery loves company” card. H.A. will have to guard against playing the “ain’t it awful” game with friends, family, and acquaintances. (S)he will have to be alert to the tendency to energize what (s)he does NOT have instead of realizing what (s)he does. The advice of the card is “not to go without, but to go within.” Resource is always at hand if the seeker chooses to lift her/his eyes to see it.
The summary card is the Tower, the sudden annihilation of that which has been built so that a new structure can take its place. This is usually an out-of-the-blue happening like a flash of insight that completely wipes out a previous understanding. It can happen on any level, so it may be anything from a new way of looking at a situation to the dissolution of a relationship, a job, or an actual physical structure. The good news is that the people pictured in the card all survive. They will continue on their path(s), heading in a new direction, having experienced what doesn’t work. It would seem that H.A. is in the middle of a contrast experience, where (s)he can more clearly see what (s)he wants because of being able to see what (s)he doesn’t want. Good luck, H.A..
