3-Card reading for E.F.

Four of Cups   Temperance   High Priestess                                       Two of Pentacles

E.F. has submitted the above cards for interpretation.  The first three cards are the “heart” of the reading and are read as a unit.  Then, the next card is drawn and read as a summary or clarifier.  Since two out of the first three cards are members of the Major Arcana, it is safe to say that this reading addresses E.F.’s soul’s agenda, her/his to-do list for this lifetime, left in the care of her/his Higher Self, who constantly creates opportunities for E.F. to encounter.

The spotlight has been on E.F.’s reluctance and/or refusal to open her/his heart and take advantage of an opportunity that is being offered.  E.F. has been in a sort of holding pattern where (s)he has lined up the feelings, emotions, relationships, and psychic abilities that (s)he possesses.  These cups are grounded and all within reach, yet the fourth one that is being offered, which would grant even more safety and stability to the current three pictured in front of the seeker, has not been taken.  The advice of the card is to become aware of what’s being tendered and take a chance on it.

The spotlight is now on Temperance, a card that addresses the reluctance expressed in the first card.  However, this is not a card of caution but rather a representation of the process of tempering, like that which is used in the making of steel.  The angel is combining two different elements to join the outstanding qualities of both in a single new product.  Just as steelmaking combines iron for strength with tin for flexibility, E.F.’s Higher Self has put her/him through some very hot fires to make her/him stronger and more flexible.  The message of the card lies in the irises, the promise that the worst is behind her/him, and it will never be “that bad” again.

The spotlight is moving toward the High Priestess, the gift of  Knowledge.  E.F. is being reassured that the answers (s)he seeks are already inside her/him; (s)he need only find a quiet, calm, safe, steady place in which to access them.

The summary card is the two of pentacles, replace “but” with “and.”  E.F. is being asked to expand her/his reality to include the existence of two things, which (s)he previously thought were mutually exclusive.  This misperception had her/him dancing around trying to decide which one to pick.  As soon as (s)he embraces a reality that includes both choices, the dance ends.  I will always remember the telemarketer who stopped dead in her tracks when I announced, “Yes, I believe in your cause, AND yes, I will not give you any money.”  This reading speaks to an expanded consciousness, the lifting of one’s eyes to see what’s being offered, the reassurance that the worst is over, and the recognition that the answers have already been given,
