3-Card Reading for S.V.

S.V. has submitted the above cards for interpretation.  The first three cards are the “heart” of the reading and are read as a unit.  Then, the fourth card is drawn and read as a summary or clarifier.  It isn’t until we draw the fourth card that we have two-or-more-of-the-same suit/number/arcana.  The fact that the summary card is a member of the Major Arcana adds more strength to the status of the Hermit and suggests that this reading focuses on S.V.’s soul’s agenda for this lifetime.

The spotlight has been on the two of pentacles, the endless dance of yes/but.  S.V. has been holding the erroneous belief that two things (s)he wants are mutually exclusive.  When (s)he focuses on one, the other seems devalued because (s)he is using the word “but” in her/his internal dialogue.  “I want this, BUT I also want this.”  (S)he has been dancing around this issue for some time.  The advice of the card is to stop dancing and move the two choices gently into balance, changing the internal dialogue to “I want this AND I also want this.”  By creating a reality where both can exist simultaneously, S.V. can have it all.

The spotlight is now on the queen of swords, the Butterfly Queen.  This is a card of major metamorphosis, the process by which a caterpillar turns into a butterfly.  No wonder S.V. has asked for a reading!  Life/reality, as (s)he has known it, has disappeared, and this is crazy-making.  The questions of  “Who am I? Where am I? What’s happening? Why?” are almost overwhelming.  The good news is that this process is more than halfway finished, the sun will come out, and (s)he will emerge a butterfly.

The spotlight is moving toward the Hermit, a card of wisdom and higher understanding.  S.V. has invested time and energy in reaching the top of the mountain, and (s)he has done it carrying the light, so others can see that it is possible and can follow in her/his footsteps if that’s what they choose.  The perspective offered from this position is, indeeed, enlightened.  The only drawback to this position is a possible feeling of isolation and/or loneliness because the hermit marches to a different drummer than most.

The summary card is the Lovers, the Gift of Healing.  S.V., you came into this lifetime with the ability to give others the support and permission to heal themselves.  Because this card is in the summary position, it looks like your gift is about to blossom since you have expanded both your reality and your perspective.  Good luck.
